LINUX LITE WONT BOOT HOW TO
I'm working off of a Macbook, so I've got access to some (but not all) of the standard command line tools.ĭoes anyone have any ideas on how to proceed? Thank you in advance. The target PC is an old windows machine with completely new and blank HDDs inside (I double checked by formatting the drives while I was in Linux LIte). Turn on your PC again while keeping your USB device plugged in, and when Your Manufacturer logo comes up, press the F10 key on your keyboard (This key depends upon your manufacturer, but it is usually it is one of Esc, F2, F10, F12 or Del keys) to go into your boot menu. At no point does the openmediavault installation ask me about GRUB (which the guide says only happens sometimes, but I thought it was worth mentioning, since this is a boot problem). That worked, and I was able to boot from the 32GB drive into Linux Lite with no problems. A kernel with a fix for this issue will be available in zesty-updates shortly, but, the Ubuntu. To troubleshoot, I installed Linux Lite on the 32GB drive to test that my computer was capable of detecting it. Incompatibility with BIOS in certain Lenovo, Acer systems A bug in the Linux 4.13 kernel shipped in Ubuntu 17.10 can leave users unable to update any of their BIOS settings, including their system’s boot order, after booting this version of Ubuntu. It just doesn't detect the 32GB drive as bootable. There's no error, or an aborted attempt to boot, or anything. The little you can do is make sure you’ve plugged everything in correctly. To begin with, there’s nothing you can do to run checks on your OS or your hardware. It says to remove the installation media and reboot, which I do. 1 Comment Ever turn on your Linux PC only to find that it won’t load and you don’t know what to do When your PC won’t turn, troubleshooting it becomes complicated. It seems to install on the 32GB drive with no problems.

My computer boots the openmediavault installer just fine (from the 8GB drive). I have an 8GB USB drive with openmediavault_5.5.11-amd64.iso on it.
